Faulkton Area Medical Center is a 12-bed Critical Access Hospital and Rural Health Clinic in Faulkton, SD.

Company History

A county hospital has existed in Faulkton since 1917. In 1949 a new brick structure was contracted and opened to patients in 1951. A large addition was constructed in 1966. In may of 1984 the Hospital became separately incorporated. The clinic was completed and opened in 1992. In September of 1993, Faulk County Memorial Hospital was certified as the first Rural Primary Care Hospital in the nation with 6 acute and 6 swing beds.
Faulkton Area Medical Center broke ground in April of 2006 and built a brand new hospital and clinic in 2007. In 2011 an outpatient center and therapy center was added. At this time, FAMC is currently in the process of an addition to include larger emergency rooms, nurses station, pharmacy, procedure room, and chemotherapy infusion center.

Faulkton Area Medical Center provides all full time employees with health insurance benefits. All employees working 20+ hours per week are required to participate in the South Dakota Retirement System which is a mandatory 6% match. All employees receive vacation, holiday, and sick time which accrues based on hours worked. Faulkton Area Medical Center also participates in group plans to offer supplemental benefits such as dental, vision, cancer, short/long term disability at the employee's expense.
